Also, keep in mind that "publicity" is not just about
media coverage, but can simply mean that your organization is being talked about by a
cross-section of people that you want to reach. Every year the same number of people
working the same amount of time raise more money. Why don't we use the time we would have
spent on events and just go ask some people directly for money? But no matter how strong a
case i made for not doing events, groups would continue to do them. In addition, your
organization will have access to a group of caring and committed volunteers.
Almost every social movement in america has had
its roots in religious communities. Doing the right thing means putting your organization
squarely behind a bigger need than just your own cause. Keeping the campaign short will
keep your participants motivated and on track. Get a good editor; everyone needs one.
If someone expresses an interest in something related to the group, the volunteer
should make a note of their name and address and offer to send them more information or to
invite them to the next meeting, or whatever action would be appropriate.

names in articles, but i got my (figurative) graduate degree in stewardship while working

the most popular and most frequently used fundraising strategy, they're not the quickest
or easiest way to raise money.
01% Response rate out of a direct mail piece or, at the very least, to build their
confidence with major donors. Keeping the plastic parts and the toner/ink residue out of
your local landfill may not seem like much, but americans dispose of more than 100 million
laser printer or inkjet cartridges each year. Neither need nor tax advantage makes your
organization special. Ask any fundraising volunteers to give before they ask others to
give.
People give more the more personalized the approach. One way to limit the amount of
staff time spent on events is to hire an event coordinator (even then, staff will need to
play some key roles), or to develop a committed group of volunteers with the time and
skills to do much of the organizing. For example, a group must raise $4,000 to buy
equipment, as well as traveling costs to a tournament. If your organization wants to take
advantage of the holidays by selling cards, calendars, or running a year-end major gifts
campaign, you should have been planning for these activities since september or even
earlier.
